Coastland Distinctives

We think you will find these Coastland Distinctives contagious. They have been inspired as we have searched our hearts, listened to God, searched the scriptures and gleaned from our decades of experience in leadership.  Watch and listen Steve Sjogren explain a bit about them.

Profound Generosity

If you are standing behind a person from Coastland at Starbucks or Burger King, chances are that person will turn to you and say, “This one’s on me!”  We don’t define God through mere words, but through tens of thousands of deeds of kindness, generosity and love.

Profound Acceptance

After years of experiencing the healing power of Jesus’ absolute acceptance of each of us, regardless of how we came to him, we have discovered that healing begins when people are loved unconditionally regardless of their beliefs, their sexual confusion, or their many mistakes. This is what Jesus did. This is what we do as well!

Profound Devotion to Change the World

We coined a phrase a while back that seems to capture our hearts for how this all works: “Small things done with great love will change the world.”  In our reading of the scriptures, we see the clear pattern that as we walk consistently, day after day, serving our way into the hearts of all around us, God does the big part – he changes lives in a lasting, permanent way!

Profound Love for Those in Need

Those in need come in many descriptions, shapes and sizes. Some are single moms, some are elderly, some are immigrants, others are simply “under-employed” and can’t seem to make enough to pay all their bills while working for a minimum wage income. These are the people in whom we strongly feel called to invest our lives.

Profoundly Diverse Community

When you visit one of our weekend gatherings, you will notice great diversity at CoastlandTampa. We have worked hard to make this place a reflection of the look and sound of our city.
